What am I doing in 2018?

Woah, my website is really out of date!

Since 2016:

  • I was tenured and promoted to Associate Professor of Psychology at Binghamton
  • I went on a 1 year sabbatical at Google[X]
  • I decided I didn't want to go back into academia, and accepted a full-time position as X Senior Neuroscientist, working on a:

Now I live in California!

A Fresh Wave of Brain Print Craziness

So.... When I did my CAREER progress report this year, I mentioned some of the craziness that had ensued after the publication of the original brainprint paper in Neurocomputing.  My PO was interested in the brainprint story (it is a pretty awesome story), so the directorate that manages my CAREER award did an article on brainprint for NSF Discovery, even though technically my CAREER project is not directly brainprint related.  The NSF Discovery piece came with a press release, which has kicked us into a fully fledged second round of brainprint craziness.  I'm trying to round up the links here so I can have them all in one place.

I'm doing interviews with Ars Technica and IEEE Spectrum shortly, too.

In short, YIKES!

Materials for my Winter 2016 Stats Workshop

Here, you can find the Google Drive link to all of the materials for my January 2016 Nonparametric Statistics Workshop.  Find:

  • All the papers we use to motivate our techniques (plus some review)
  • Some course notes from other courses on nonparametric statistics (e.g., MIT OpenCourseWare)
  • The workshop lecture notes
  • All of the code I develop in the workshop (including code for permutation based t-tests, single regression, multiple regression, and correction for multiple comparisons)
  • All the sample data used for analyses demonstrated in the workshop
  • The workshop schedule
Enjoy!  Go forth and make no assumptions about the distribution of your data!

National Geographic!

As the brainprint craziness continues to rage on all across the land, my lab had a visit from a crew from the Nat Geo Channel earlier this week, to film footage for an "Untitled Nat Geo Special."  Photos of the Insanity:
I get my makeup touched up!

They did some really magical things with the lighting in the lab.

Brainprint Video

The University produced a fancy video about brainprint!  My favorite part is when ZJ and I are nerdily comparing our nerd watches.
